Documented cause
Rappifresh was Rappi's dedicated quick-commerce grocery unit, operating dark stores across Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina to offer 10-minute grocery delivery. Launched in 2018 during the quick-commerce investment wave, the unit expanded to dozens of cities. But at LatAm income levels, the 10-minute premium over standard grocery delivery was insufficient to cover dark store rent, inventory management, and picker wages. Rappi shut down Rappifresh operations across most countries in 2022, integrating remaining inventory functions back into the main app.
