// ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Accessibility
Last updated: June 2026
// OUR COMMITMENT
UnicornBurn is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
// MEASURES WE TAKE
- Skip-to-content link on every page for keyboard users
- Semantic HTML landmarks (nav, main, footer) with descriptive ARIA labels
- All colour combinations meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for text)
- Keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- ARIA live regions for dynamic content (notifications, errors, loading states)
- Form inputs associated with visible or screen-reader labels
- Tab panels with roving tabindex and arrow-key navigation (ARIA APG pattern)
- Pinch-to-zoom enabled — no viewport restrictions
- Decorative icons and emojis hidden from assistive technology (aria-hidden)
// KNOWN LIMITATIONS
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, some areas are still being improved:
- PDF exports (Portfolio tier) are generated programmatically and do not include tagged PDF structure. Screen reader users can access the same content on the web autopsy page.
- Complex data visualisations (score breakdowns, risk charts) do not yet have full text alternatives.
// COMPATIBLE TECHNOLOGIES
UnicornBurn is designed to be compatible with:
- NVDA + Firefox (Windows)
- JAWS + Chrome (Windows)
- VoiceOver + Safari (macOS / iOS)
- TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation in all modern browsers
- High-contrast mode (Windows / macOS)
